Kansas City Indian Center
Location: Kansas City, MO
*Project completed while with other firm
The Kansas City Indian Center honors Indigenous culture through architecture that embraces tradition, community, and sustainability. The building’s star-shaped plan is rooted in symbolic geometry, radiating outward from a central drum-like atrium that serves as a ceremonial and gathering space. A stunning timber diagrid ceiling filters natural light while echoing traditional craftsmanship, and the stone and wood finishes ground the structure in its natural context. The building opens generously to the landscape, with green roofs and deeply shaded overhangs blending into the site.
